Description
This print titled “Bay of Islands” is vibrant capture of the sunlit rolling hills and lake of Georgian Bay. It is a limited-edition print reproduced from an original watercolour painting by Group of Seven artist Franklin Carmichael. Carmichael move to Toronto in 1911, where he studied art at the Central Technical School and the Ontario College of Art. He spent time sketching in many locales around Ontario, including Georgian Bay and the North Shore of Lake Superior, but the La Cloche Hills, the site of his family cottage, became a favourite painting location. Primarily a watercolourist, Carmichael had a distinct style that differed from other Group of 7 artists, often attributed to his design background. This print is triple matted with a white white mat, light grey and black trim, it is framed with a 3” silver lip frame.
